The Parallax Effect

By April 28, 2014November 7th, 2016After Effects

So its been a while since our last blog post. Today I want to share the personal work Ive been doing. These two (a third in progress) videos have been completed using traditional paintings by myself from my 2nd & 3rd years at university, where I studied Scientific and Natural History Illustration. After seeing the video by Joe Fellows on YouTube I was blown away with the effect and thought I have to have a go at this!

So the first attempt was to use a image I had painted in my 2nd year at Uni of a rusting chain and rope on part of an old tractor (original painting) the result turned out well, I was pretty pleased, and motivated to go ahead and animate the two D&AD Award winning paintings from my final year. Take a look:

The second took a little longer to construct as is the third but the results are well worth the effort. The original painting can be seen here.

This painting along with another (working on the parallax effect for that one at the moment) won the D&AD Best New Blood 2005 in London.
